In 2008 I enrolled at Rutgers University in the mechanical engineering, mainly because I was good at math and science. I worked through my first three years without much direction. Luckily, in the middle of junior year, I landed myself an internship working in the metals technology sector in Shanghai, China. This didn't quite allow me to find myself, however the travel after I finished my internship offered the opportunity I had been looking for.

I spent two months traveling through Laos, Vietnam Thailand, and Cambodia, experiencing some very poor areas. I wondered how this situation could be improved. I realized I could apply my engineering degree and help in at least some aspects.
This led to me joining Engineers Without Borders (EWB). During my senior year of college, I worked on a water system in Kolunje, Kenya. EWB acted as a stepping stone from which I continued on to join Peace Corps.
I've been with Peace Corps since June 2013 and am planning to finish in September 2015.
Outside of work, I mainly focus on photography and travel as my two favorite hobbies. Luckily both go together and so I've paired my photography and travel blogs together.
